The building has a total area of 4000m2, completed in July 2014 and represents the final phase of the redevelopment of the Science Chemistry building or Science South. The project consisted of the refurbishment of the existing science A3 building and a new 4 storey extension.

The building accommodates both research and undergraduate Laboratories, support areas, offices, Lecture theatres and a chemical storage and handling area for the entire science centre.

Key sustainable features of the design include: Use of campus District Heating system, Manifold Air systems, LED Lamp selection, PIR/Photocell Lighting Controls, VSD’s selection on All Motor’s and pumps, Laboratory Power/Water/Air Local Isolation Controls.
